Night Raid -- $700.00 16 x 24" Acrylic on Masonite |

This
was a maximum effort B-17 bombing mission hitting the town of Rabaul,
New Britain on October 8, 1942. At that time Rabaul and Simpson Harbor
were the largest Japanese military target in the Southwest Pacific.
Because of the cloud cover, the aircraft were bombing from 8,000’
attracting a Christmas tree effect of tracers and searchlights each time
one of our aircraft appeared on it’s bomb run over the town. It was
kind of scary watching from the back of the line.
