On April 11, 1945, a destroyer, the USS Kidd, was on radar picket duty off Okinawa when it was rammed by a Japanese kamikaze.  The impact killed 38 crewmen and 55 were wounded.  While I was flying B-17’s in WW II my brother was a crewman aboard the Kidd.  He survived the kamikaze attack and the war.  Although suffering major damage, so did the Kidd… and so did I.
